The basics
How foot veins work
Foot veins carry blood from the feet back toward the heart against gravity. That process relies on small one-way valves inside the veins. Some visible foot veins are simply normal anatomy, or the result of skin thinning with age. When those valves stop closing properly, blood pools, and over time this can lead to visible vein changes, swelling, and discomfort in the feet and ankles.

Why foot veins matter
Foot vein changes are more than a visual concern. They can indicate venous insufficiency, where blood does not flow properly back toward the heart, and that is worth evaluating rather than assuming it is cosmetic.
How many sessions to expect
Treatment usually takes at least two sessions. The number varies from person to person depending on how many veins are treated and how they respond, and Dr. Walker will discuss what to expect at your consultation.
